A person's liver plays so central a role in a body's continued good health that it is implicated in many diseases and dysfunctions of the human body when the liver is malfunctioning.

Any time a person - young or old has a health problem - mental, emotional, physical - a damaged malfunctioning liver can be a major contributing factor of the health problem.

LIVER DAMAGE HAS BECOME WIDESPREAD

Although a healthy liver is vital to well being and is a main defense against disease, the incidence of liver damage in the United States, -including often fatal cirrhosis, is increasing rapidly even among children.

Liver damage, once confined to chronic alcoholics, is now common among all Americans.

Dr. Charles Best, co-discoverer of insulin, observed a parallel between the effects of soft drinks and hard liquor.

Both cause a protein deficiency which leads to liver damage. In fact, cirrhosis of the liver has been found among teens drinking soft drinks but no alcohol.

Over-the-counter and prescription drugs can cause severe liver damage. Medications can inhibit the liver's many enzyme systems and prevent vital  substances  from being synthesized and foodstuffs from being utilized normally. The wide use of drugs has now helped liver damage to be common even among children.

Caffeine causes liver damage

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that there are nearly 1,000 prescription drugs and 2,000 over-the-counter medications that contain caffeine - anywhere from 30 to 200 milligrams per tablet or capsule.

Stress contributes to liver damage. L. K. Griffeth, G. M. Rosen, and E. J. Rauchman, "Effects of model traumatic injury on hepatic drug metabolism in the rat. VI. Major detoxification/toxification pathways," Drug Metabolism and Disposition 15: 749-59.

Liver damage is produced in animals when the animals are given a diet that includes refined sugar, refined flour, and     partially hydrogenated  or hydrogenated fats and/or oils.

Most Americans get 150 pounds of sugar a year - which is the equivalent of a teaspoon and a half of sugar every 30 minutes,

Most of the sugar Americans are getting is through hidden sources.

Fruit juices are loaded with sugar  !

Overeating is a common cause of liver malfunction. The liver absorbs food like a sponge. Overeating creates excess work for the liver, resulting in liver fatigue. When the liver is overworked, it may not detoxify harmful substances properly before they enter the bloodstream.

Radiation contributes to liver damage.

Dr. Earnest J. Sternglass, professor of Radiation Physics at The University of Pittsburgh.

The bodies of the American people are getting a tremendous amount of radiation today that did not exist 100 years ago.

An alkaline colon will cause sever liver damage. Most Americans have an alkaline colon.

A deficiency of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs found in Cod liver oil and Salmon oil) can contribute to liver damage.

Dr. Richard Passwater

The average American today gets 1/12 to 1/20 the amount of Essential Fatty Acids in their diet that the average American did 100 years ago.

Most Americans have damaged livers and do not know it.

Dr. Jack Tips, N. D., Ph. D., says, "Unfortunately, only about one in 100,000 Americans have a truly healthy liver."

The liver has an amazing capacity to regenerate itself.

If the diet is adequate and two-thirds of a lab animal's liver is cut away, the entire organ grows back within three weeks.

Even if experimental cirrhosis  is produced before part of the liver is removed, regeneration takes place quickly provided all essential nutrients are supplied.

MacDonald, R. A., et al., Lab. Invest. 11, 544

Rabionovici, N., et al., Gastroenterology 40, 416

As with animals, people with damaged livers or even cirrhosis can recover rapidly provided their diets are markedly improved.

In one study of 102 persons who had lived largely on refined carbohydrates and were grossly deficient in the right nutrients resulting in damaged livers.

Weekly biopsies and numerous tests showed that after their diets were made high in the right nutrients, even the worst cases had recovered within six weeks.

Eating liver is one of the best sources of nutrition and vitamins. There are a few companies that offer liver tablets that can be taken daily. The best source is from cows in Argentina where the cattle are not fed steroids and harmons. The only company that goes to the extreme of using those cattle is GNLD. The Sports 30 Pack comes with liver tablets. The following is a list of values in the Sports pack.
